Posted by wlpo on July 27, 2011

The old wire baskets that you used to store your stuff while at the city swimming pool is apparently worth money.  Items at the Peru swimming pool have gone missing since the pool closed two summers ago.

Alderwoman Sherry Mayszak says she wants to take inventory of what’s at the pool and find out what’s missing and where it went.  She says if things have been stolen, a police report will be filed.  That could become the case for the PA system that vanished.  She also says the baskets are considered valuable for nostalgic reasons.

Snell was arrested Tuesday and was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

Republican representatives issued a statement today saying the map can’t stand and that it discriminates against the state’s growing Hispanic population.  Kinzinger and Schock go on to say they’re disappointed Governor Quinn “chose to rubber stamp this flawed map” but they’re confident a court will “reverse the naked partisan power-grab by the Democrats”.

Republican State Senator Sue Rezin is also part of the lawsuit.
