Crash in Dekalb County injuries three from Streator

An accident on Route 23 in Dekalb County left three people from Streator injured.  Police say Mary Krotti of Streator was heading south on Route 23 Sunday afternoon when a car pulled out from an intersection and hit them.

Krotti and two people with her, Jeremy Eutis and Kevin Krotti were taken to Valley West Hospital in Sandwich.  Their conditions were unavailable.

The woman driving the other, Myrtle Wolf of Leland was ticketed.  She told police she stopped but didn’t see the other car approaching.

Security and naming rights to be discussed by IVCC committee

Do companies want to sponsor things at Illinois Valley Community College?  Naming rights will be one of the topics during a planning meeting Tuesday evening.  The committee will also talk about security services and the firing of the college’s safety services department.  The committee meets at 5:30pm Tuesday.

Crash leads to DUI arrest

Alcohol and speed don’t mix but it’s what police think led to a crash in Mission Township.  Ryan Goodeve of Green Bay, Wisconsin lost control of his car late Sunday night.  He was arrested for DUI and not slowing down to avoid an accident and was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

City-wide garage sales part of Oglesby Summer Fun Fest

You’ll find more than a few garage sales in Oglesby next weekend.  As part of the Oglesby Summer Fun Fest, citywide garage sales are being planned for July 8 and 9.  If you live in Oglesby and would like to hold a sale that weekend, let the city clerk’s office know by noon Tuesday, July 5.

More fireworks scheduled for the fourth

You still have a chance to catch a fireworks display this Fourth of July.

Tonight fireworks displays are planned for Ottawa at the riverfront, Hennepin at the riverfront, Henry at Waterfront Park, Mendota at the fairgrounds, Sheridan at Robertson Field, and Princeton at Zearing Park.

All displays are to start at dusk.
