Bureau County company included in settlement with the AG’s office

Thousands of dollars in fines for three packaged ice companies accused of illegal business practices.  Among them is Sisler’s Dairy and Products of Ohio.

The settlement was announced by Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office Friday.  Investigators with the Attorney General’s office earlier this year called out the companies for allegedly creating an illegal non-compete agreement by dividing up the market.

Home City Ice of Cincinnati, Ohio, will pay over $512,000; Sisler’s Dairy and Products of Ohio, will pay over $44,000 and Stoutin Premium Ice in Casey will pay $40,000 to the State of Illinois. The companies also agreed to a 10-year injunction banning the anticompetitive activity.

L-P Advances To State Championship Game

The 25 and 6 LP Lady Cavs will play for a state championship after beating Glenbard South 7-5 Friday morning in East Peoria.

L-P will face Marengo in the Class 3A state title game Saturday at 11:30 on AM 1220 WLPO.

Following the game, win or lose, a celebration for the LP girls will be held in LP’s main gym beginning approximately two hours after the end of the game Saturday.  Everyone’s welcome.

Area Congressman Delivering Nationwide Speech

The man delivering the weekly Republican radio and internet address this week is Congressman Adam Kinzinger.

The first-term congressman plans to focus on job creation.  House Speaker John Boehner says Kinzinger was picked to make the weekly address because “he has made getting government out of the way of small business” a top priority of his in Congress.

Kinzinger says he’s “humbled by the opportunity”.
