New council members and a treasurer for La Salle

Posted by wlpo on May 2, 2011

The make-up of city leadership in La Salle includes several new faces.  Three new aldermen and a returning alderman were sworn in Monday night.

First ward alderman Diz Demes and newcomers Joe Edgcomb of the second ward,    John Duncan of the third ward, and Mark Schneider of the fourth ward took their places on the council.

It was also the last meeting for council’s two most senior members former third ward alderman George Green.  Green chose to not run for another term after nearly 20 years on the council.  Former fourth ward alderman Gary Schroeder lost his re-election bid after serving 12 years.  Former third ward alderman Demetrio Salazar did not run for a full-term after filling out the remaining two-years of an unexpired term.

There’s also a new city treasurer.  Former alderman Bob “Ice Man” Ksiazkiewicz was appointed to finish out Fran Baratta’s term.  Baratta stepped down from the post for personal reasons.  Prior to being elected treasurer she was the city clerk for many years.
