New State Police crime lab

Illinois State Police officials say a new planned lab in Southern Illinois will enhance the agency’s ability for forensic science analysis. State officials say the $37.8 million dollar lab in Belleville is expected to be constructed by late 2012. State police spokesman Isaiah Vega says the facility will help alleviate a backlog of about 8600 tests. That includes DNA and forensic biology tests, among others.
