Sheriff’s Office Gets Go Ahead For New 911 System

Posted by wlpo on April 16, 2011

Years in the making, La Salle County’s Enhanced 911 System has received approval to start operating.

The Illinois Commerce Commission gave the go ahead.  Sheriff Tom Templeton says they’ll start testing their system within the next month.  Dispatchers will be calling rural addresses to verify their number, name and address.  Rural fire departments are also asked to go door-to-door asking people to call the county to verify that their information shows up correctly.

Around six thousand people need to be verified into the 911 system.
