Mendota sports teams could be paying fees to use city fields

Posted by wlpo on March 8, 2011

In the coming weeks area baseball and softball teams will be out on the fields practicing.  In Mendota, those teams will be paying a $10 fee to help keep the lights on.

The Newstribune reports that the City of Mendota will be doing a better job of collecting the fee from Little League and Mendota Area Youth Soccer teams.  They hadn’t been collecting the fee in past years.

Alderman Jim Fitzpatrick says they need the money now that ComEd will no longer be providing free lighting for the parks.

Men’s slowpitch softball teams could be charged as much as $50 per year.
