Police say La Salle man had marijuana packaged for sale

Marijuana plants and marijuana packaged to be sold are what police say they found after going through a home in La Salle.

Officers with TRIDENT arrested Matthew Yodual after searching his home in the 700 block of Hennepin Street Monday.

Yodual was arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a class three felony.  He was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

Fishing to resume at La Salle Lake

Fishing at the La Salle Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area begins Wednesday, March 16.

The lake will be open Wednesdays through Sundays and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays through the end of March.

It’ll be open seven-days a week beginning April 1 through the end of June.

Mendota sports teams could be paying fees to use city fields

In the coming weeks area baseball and softball teams will be out on the fields practicing.  In Mendota, those teams will be paying a $10 fee to help keep the lights on.

The Newstribune reports that the City of Mendota will be doing a better job of collecting the fee from Little League and Mendota Area Youth Soccer teams.  They hadn’t been collecting the fee in past years.

Alderman Jim Fitzpatrick says they need the money now that ComEd will no longer be providing free lighting for the parks.

Men’s slowpitch softball teams could be charged as much as $50 per year.

Ottawa And Streator Are Stops On Annual Tractor Parade

The 2011 Heritage Tractor Adventure will stay in eastern La Salle County and western Grundy County this year.

The 10th annual tractor parade is from June 11th to the 15th.  It’ll begin and end the first two days in Morris.  On the 13th, tractor riders will venture into Ottawa for lunch.  On the 14th, they’ll roll into Streator for lunch before heading back to Grundy County.

Oglesby was the parade’s host city last year.

Voting Registration Deadline Is Today

If you want to cast a ballot next month, today’s the last day to make sure you’re registered to vote.

Voters who’ve moved since the last election need to file a change of address with their county clerk.  You can fill out the forms at the county clerk’s office or call the clerk for other voter registration spots.

If you go to register, have identification that has your name and correct address and another id card with just your name.
