Four taken to hospital following crash

A crash on Route 18 sent four people to St. Mary’s Hospital.  Police say Cara Minkler of Streator was on Route 18 Saturday evening when she lost control of her car and hit an oncoming car.

Minkler and three people with her were taken to the hospital.  Their conditions were unavailable.

Speculators, not supplies, are driving up gas prices

You may hate him for causing gas and oil to increase in price, but, that’s the job of the speculator. Steve Witek from LPL in La Salle says unrest in the Middle East draws the speculator to buy oil contracts.

Witek says Libya produces around 1.5 million barrels of oil a day.  If Libya’s production is disrupted, other Middle East countries can adjust their exports to fill the gap temporarily.

DUI ticket for woman accused of hitting parked car

One crash led to another in Oglesby.  Police say they arrested a woman from Mendota for DUI and other tickets after she hit a parked car, which then hit another parked car on Walnut Street Sunday night.

Jessica Peterson was also arrested for not slowing to avoid accident and disobeying a traffic control device.  She was taken to IVCH for treatment and was later released after posting bond.
