School Libraries Get Funding Boost

Posted by wlpo on March 5, 2011

Over a dozen school libraries in La Salle County are getting grants from Jessie White’s office.

The Secretary of State is dishing out over a million dollars to 679 school districts for things like new library materials, library subscriptions to electronic resources, and improved technology.

Ottawa Elementary is getting the largest grant locally at 15 hundred dollars followed by a 14 hundred dollar grant for the Streator Elementary School District.  Among the area high schools, L-P’s library grant is 875 dollars, Ottawa High is getting a thousand dollars, Streator 716 dollars, and Mendota High will receive 450 dollars.

Other schools getting grants are Earlville and Leland school districts and Mendota, Oglesby, Wallace, and Peru elementary districts.
