Posted by wlpo on February 21, 2011

The ambulances have been equipped and the paramedics have been hired for the La Salle Fire Department’s ambulance service.  La Salle assumes responsibility for ambulance calls in La Salle starting at 8am next Tuesday.  The city decided last fall to part ways with the Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service.

La Salle Fire Chief Andy Bacidore has been overseeing the transition and working with PSI, the company that hired the paramedics and will be handle billing.  He says they have two units ready to go.  The units include six paramedics, two who are La Salle Firefighters.

An inspector from the Illinois Department of Public Health will be at the station Tuesday to approve the ambulances.

Alderman Diz Demes, who was the La Salle representative on the PVAS board, says the La Salle service will be a well run, well disciplined department.
