Congressman Coming To Ottawa

Congressman Adam Kinzinger has rescheduled his town hall meeting in Ottawa.

The republican will listen to your questions and concerns Saturday, February 26th inside Ottawa City Hall.  The town hall meeting starts at 10.

Kinzinger was supposed to stop in Ottawa February 2nd but the blizzard hit.

He still hasn’t set a rescheduled date to meet in Princeton.

Fatal Crashes Down In The Area

The number of people killed last year by car crashes in La Salle County was way down from the year before.

Fourteen deaths were caused by traffic crashes last year in La Salle County compared to 21 in 2009.  There were a dozen fatal crashes last year in La Salle County.

For the second year in a row, Putnam County had no fatal crashes.  In Bureau County, six people were killed in six different crashes last year.  That’s down from seven deaths the previous two years.

None of the area counties have reported a traffic death so far this year.

Latest Flooding Issues

The Illinois River in La Salle is rising above flood stage today but people on Water Street don’t need to head for higher ground.

The river is expected to rise to 21 feet this afternoon and then slowly recede back below the 20 foot flood stage.  A Flood Warning is in effect.

A Flood Advisory continues for the Fox River at Dayton.  The river crested at nearly 14 feet Friday morning and has fallen back below the 12 foot flood stage.

The Illinois and Fox River’s in Ottawa are not expected to flood.
