Drug trafficking charge for California man stopped near Utica

Posted by wlpo on February 8, 2011

A police dog is getting credit for helping state troopers with a drug trafficking arrest on Interstate 80.

State Troopers stopped Jason Burns-Doak of Chico, California Monday afternoon near Utica for a traffic violation but searched his car after a police dog smelled drugs.  Police say they found nine bags of what they believe is marijuana, weighing over 98 pounds, inside.

Burns-Doak was arrested for cannabis trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was being held in the La Salle County Jail.
