Attempted Abduction Reported In Streator

A young girl tells police she was walking home from Northlawn Jr. High yesterday when she was approached by a man driving a Chevy pickup.

The man allegedly told the girl he was her uncle and that her mom asked him to pick the girl up.  The girl says she didn’t know the man and walked away unharmed.

The suspect is said to be white, in his late 20s to early 30s with black hair and a short black beard.  If you have information, call Streator Police.

Streator Man Still In Serious Condition After Crash

A local musician remains in serious condition after a crash Tuesday near Grand Ridge.

Mark Piecha of Streator is at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after he crashed his car into a pickup along the Grand Ridge Blacktop.  The man driving the pickup, Laurence Gage of Marseilles was taken to Ottawa Regional Hospital.

His condition was unavailable.

Man Improving After Crash Near Grand Ridge

A Streator man is in fair condition after a crash Wednesday morning south of Grand Ridge.

Richard Travis is being treated at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  He was hurt after parking on the side of Route 23 to work on a trailer he was hauling.  Michael Raiger of Ottawa came down the road and hit Travis.

Raiger was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.  No tickets were issued.
