DNA confirms body is missing NIU student

Posted by wlpo on January 6, 2011

Remains found in a DeKalb park in October were those of a missing Northern Illinois University student.

WDKB Radio reports that DNA test results were submitted as evidence during a hearing today for William Curl, who was arrested on Oct. 29 – two weeks after the disappearance of 18-year-old Antinette Keller.

The NIU freshman disappeared after telling friends she would be walking in a nearby park, as part of an art project. The burned remains were found two days later, but investigators had to wait for test results to confirm the body was hers.

At Thursday’s hearing, DeKalb County public defender Regina Harris requested a continuance to examine the thousands of pages of evidence in Curl’s case and await completion of a psychological evaluation.
