Final Deer Hunting Numbers

Local hunters took down far fewer deer during the second part of firearm deer season than they did in the first.

Bureau County hunters took down 394 deer between December 2nd and the 5th, compared to 1,024 during the three-day first season.  La Salle County’s harvest for last weekend was 389 deer, compared to 878 last month.  Putnam County hunters brought down 141 deer last weekend, compared to 355 in November.

Counting both firearm seasons, Illinois hunters shot down 98,700 deer.
