DUI charges not limited to car drivers

Fans of snowmobiles took advantage of the recent snowfall this weekend.  But police say one man had too much to drink before heading outside Saturday night.

Norman Hausken of Seneca was arrested for DUI after police say he rolled his snowmobile in ditch in Manlius Township.  He was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

New La Salle County Board Members to be sworn in tonight

Four new faces will be sworn into the La Salle County Board Monday night.

After a 5pm introduction and orientation, Republicans Bob Vickrey, JoAnne McNally and Steven Tuftie along with Democrat Joe Panzica will take the oath of office once the official board meeting begins at 6pm.  Vickrey is from Peru, McNally from Mendota, Tuftie from Harding and Panzica lives in rural Utica.

After their oath of office, a vice-chairman or woman of the county board will be announced.  Democrat Tom Ganiere of Ottawa currently is vice-chairman.

Wife missing following deadly car crash

A man is dead and his wife missing after a crash on the Grand Ridge Mazon Blacktop.

Sheriff’s Deputies say shortly before 2am Sunday a deputy on patrol found a one car crash with a man dead in the drivers seat.

They could tell another person had been in the car but they couldn’t find them.  They believe that person is 40 year old Tanya Shannon of Ransom.  She’s the wife of 41 year old Dale Shannon, the man found in the car.

A search for Tanya Shannon will continue.
