Cost of employee health insurance increasing in Peru

Posted by wlpo on December 6, 2010

An increase in the price of health insurance means less take-home pay for Peru City employees.  After considering their options, Peru officials are leaning toward keeping employees with the same plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield though the price is increasing by about 12%.

The deductibles will stay at the same and employees will continue to pay for 10% of the premiums.

Dick Martuzzo is the city’s insurance consultant.  He says these days a 12% increase isn’t bad.

Employees have had a chance to look over the proposals and most seem to want to keep the current plan even with the price increase.

The city council will likely approve the plan at their next meeting.
