Dog Pulled From Baker Lake

Fire, police and even river rescue members were called out to Baker Lake this morning for a rescue involving a dog.

Just before the annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis kicked off, a black lab apparently fell into Baker Lake.  Just minutes before, police were called out to Baker Lake for a report of two large dogs running loose.

After about a half hour, emergency officials dove in and got the dog.  Ambulance personnel were at the scene to treat people who dove into the frigid lake.

Ancare Veterinary Clinic and Illinois Valley Animal Rescue were both called to help handle the dog.

Snow Dumped Across Illinois Valley

Snow should taper off this morning but not before several inches have fallen.

According to the National Weather Service, a spotter just southeast of Princeton reported 8 inches of snow.  While there’s a report north of Princeton of 6.5 inches.

In La Salle County, seven inches of snow has fallen in Streator with around six inches at the AM 1220 WLPO studios in Oglesby.
