With a new bridge now open and an old bridge halfway destroyed, there’s traffic news on Route 170 in Seneca.
Vehicle traffic on the road opened up Friday. However, river traffic in the bridge area will remain closed until all of the remaining scrap and debris from the bridge demolition is recovered and removed.
A contractor hasn’t figured out when river traffic will be opened back up in Seneca. A second implosion of the old Illinois River bridge will happen at a later date.
