Bridge Traffic News In Seneca

Posted by wlpo on November 20, 2010

With a new bridge now open and an old bridge halfway destroyed, there’s traffic news on Route 170 in Seneca.

Vehicle traffic on the road opened up Friday.  However, river traffic in the bridge area will remain closed until all of the remaining scrap and debris from the bridge demolition is recovered and removed.

A contractor hasn’t figured out when river traffic will be opened back up in Seneca.  A second implosion of the old Illinois River bridge will happen at a later date.

The food pantry’s Thanksgiving distribution will be held at the pantry in La Salle today between 10 and 3.  Food pantry officials expect to serve 750 families or two thousand individuals for the holiday.

While the sign-up has already come and gone for Thanksgiving distribution, the pantry will also be handing out meals for Christmas.
