Hall High School Tackling Truancy

Posted by wlpo on November 9, 2010

Skipping school will start hurting the students and their parents financially at Hall High School.

At the request of Hall, the Spring Valley City Council passed prohibiting truancy, with fines of $5 to $100 dollars for the student or parent who allows the student to be absent without a reason.  Police Chief Kevin Sangston says it’s an attempt to bring the most chronically truant students into compliance.

He doesn’t think his department will be involved with truancy fines more than a “few times a year”.
