Waltham Bomb Threat Suspect To Be Mentally Evaluated

Posted by wlpo on October 1, 2010

The student who allegedly made a bomb threat at Waltham Elementary School is still at the La Salle County Detention Home.

The 13-year old was in La Salle County Court yesterday where Judge William Ballestri ordered him kept in the detention home until a mental evaluation could be done.  The teen’s lawyer Ed Kuleck argued for the boy to be released to his parents.

The boy was arrested Wednesday for disorderly conduct after allegedly telling a teacher’s aide at Waltham North that he was going to blow up the school.  The school wasn’t evacuated but was searched by sheriff’s deputies the next morning.

La Salle County Sheriff Tom Templeton says students and staff were not in danger.
