PADS prepares for another season

Posted by wlpo on September 29, 2010

Lost jobs and housing had more people using Illinois Valley PADS shelters last season.  Over 200 people, including children and veterans, were among those staying in the shelters in Peru and Ottawa last year.

Volunteers are preparing for another season that includes extended hours.  They’ll be open from five in the evening until nine the following morning.  It’s four hours longer than in previous years.

They need volunteers to work at the shelter filling short and overnight shifts.

They also need things like paper plates, cleaning products, and cereal.  The shelters open Friday.

You can find more information about the shelters by visiting their website.
