The name of the woman found dead in a cornfield near Wenona has been released.
Marshall County officials say 39 year old Nicole Major of Belews Creek, North Carolina was found Wednesday afternoon in a cornfield south of Wenona. Major had apparently left home on July 3rd, intending to hitchhike her way to Canada. On July 6th, she was seen at a Rochelle truck stop where she left camping equipment. On July 10th, police heard that Major was trying to find a ride to DeKalb for a rental car. That was the last time anyone heard from Major.
Family members say Major had a history of paranoia and was bi-polar. Two empty bottles of Ambian and Trazadone were found near the body along with alcohol.
Investigators says the cause of death is undetermined but there are no signs of violence.
