Pipeline fixed….prices drop?

Posted by wlpo on September 19, 2010

Midwest gas prices could begin falling as early as this weekend now that a Chicago-area oil pipeline is back in business. That’s according to Tom Kloza, publisher and chief oil analyst at Oil Price Information Service. Gas prices rose quickly across the region after a leak was discovered in an oil pipeline in Romeoville on Sept. 9, and the line was taken out of service. The pipeline carries crude oil from Canada to refineries in the Midwest. Oil started flowing through the pipeline Friday after a 12-foot section of pipe was replaced. Pipeline owner Enbridge Energy Partners says oil began reaching refiners immediately. Gas prices at some Chicago-area stations increased 24 cents last weekend. Kloza says they should begin to drop by Monday.
