Health department prepares for flu season

Posted by wlpo on September 4, 2010

Panic, long lines and a priority list: things you shouldn’t get with this season’s flu shot.

One shot will cover you for the seasonal flu virus and swine flu or the H1N1 virus.  Last year the vaccines were separate and only certain people were allowed to receive the swine flu vaccine at first.

You won’t have to worry about that this season.  Jenny Barrie with the La Salle County Health Department says anyone six months old and older can be vaccinated and should.

Barrie says the flu season typically spans from October through May, peaking in January.

The La Salle County Health Department plans to announce a flu shot clinic schedule next week.  Shots will be $25 .
