Area schools receiving federal dollars for fresh produce

Five area schools have been chosen to get federal money for fresh fruits and vegetables.

DePue Elementary School, Northwest Elementary and Lincoln Jr. High in La Salle, Circuit Breaker School in Seneca and Oakland Park Elementary in Streator are among the 188 schools picked for the “Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program”.  The program provides fresh produce throughout the school day.

Area schools will get about $50 per student.
