Layoffs At JC Whitney

Posted by wlpo on August 14, 2010

Less than two weeks after the announcement was made that J.C. Whitney was sold, 17 workers at the La Salle plant have been laid off.

The layoff news came down yesterday.  The call center was among the areas seeing layoffs.  Employees are expected to receive severance pay.

California auto parts company U.S. Auto Parts recently bought Whitney Automotive Group, the parent company of J.C. Whitney for 27.5 million dollars.  By taking over the distribution center in La Salle, U.S. Auto Parts officials say they’ll complete a three-distribution center network which increases their distribution footprint.

U.S. Auto Parts expects the integration of the companies to be finished next year.
