Missing Woman Found Alive In Ottawa

Posted by wlpo on August 5, 2010

After searching for nearly seven hours, a 44-year old Ottawa woman reported missing was found alive.

Ottawa Police Chief Brian Zeilmann says the woman’s husband called police around 8:30 yesterday morning saying his wife went missing.  He was concerned about her since she apparently was making concerning statements like “give my rings to our daughter” and “cash is in the drawer and the credit cards are paid”.

Police located the woman’s car just before noon parked at the I&M Canal path just off Boyce Memorial Drive.  A search ensued with dozens of emergency officials, state police aircraft and search dogs.  The dogs picked up a scent heading west from Ottawa but it came to an abrupt halt.  The missing woman had apparently backtracked down the towpath and was eventually found on the east end of Ottawa just before seven last night.

The woman was taken to Ottawa Regional Hospital.  No word on any injuries.

Emergency responders from the county and cities of La Salle, Peru and Utica all aided in the search.
