LaSalle’s new business

Posted by wlpo on July 25, 2010

Freshly painted walls, new flooring, and several aisles of food is what you’ll find in Nina’s Mexican Market. The specialty grocery store across the street from Dollar General is one a few new businesses to pop up on First Street this summer. Rosa and Edgar Sandoval own the business that opened this month. Rosa says they want to begin selling meat and hope to sell prepared food on the weekends. They’re a few storefronts to the east of a resale shop that recently moved from Route 6 to 1st Street. Michelle Wagner owns Second Time Around Thrift Store on First Street. This summer she moved her business from 3rd Street near IV Food Center to a storefront that hasn’t been used in years. She says she looked around a little bit and thought there was more traffic in the area because of the Lock 16 Visitor’s Center. She says the new location has a large selling floor and it seems like they get more people coming in.

She’s from Peru and says there wasn’t space available in Peru. Another person is opening a video game store in the old Leisure Time Video and La Salle Economic Development Director Don Alesky says a men’s clothing store is planned for the old La Salle First National Bank.
