Posted by wlpo on July 22, 2010

Summer hasn’t been good for area job seekers.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security says LaSalle County’s unemployment increased from May to June by one percent to just over 13%.  It’s almost two percent higher than the same time last year.

In Bureau County unemployment increase to 10.5% and Putnam County unemployment increased to 12%.

The Ottawa-Streator area rate was 12.5%.  Since the same time last year, the area has seen jobs lost in the manufacturing, leisure-hospitality and retail trade sectors.
