You see people using laptops and IPads just about everywhere these days. Starting with the new school year, students in the La Salle Elementary District will have access to new MacBooks and iPads.
The school board last week approved a four-year lease with Apple that supplies the district with three mobile computer labs to be used at Northwest and Lincoln Schools.
Superintendent Dan Marenda was a big supporter of the idea. He says he used similar lease agreements while in other school districts.
The district will be paying over $56,000 a year for labs, but Marenda says that’s about what they’ve been budgeting for computers and hardware.
The district already has Dell PC’s. Marenda says they’ll be redistributed. He doesn’t think the change between PC’s and Mac will be a big deal for the students.
