La Salle County Board terminates contract with software company

Posted by wlpo on June 15, 2010

After four years, the La Salle County Board has run out of patience with the company put in charge of installing new financial software.

After spending over $400,000 to have Sikich, LLP of Aurora install a new financial computer system, the installation still hasn’t been done.  So the board voted 15 to 10 Monday night to terminate their contract with Sikich.

Before the vote, Chris Korsgard of Sikich told the board the county hasn’t fulfilled its responsibility of getting them needed information, thus delaying the process.  Korsgard said it was “safe to say few if any responsibilities were met by the county”.

While board members like Art Rigby and Steve Abel seemed to agree with Korsgard, others called out him and his company. Board member Randy Freeman called it “sickening” that Korsgard would blame the county for the software still not being installed.  He and Russell Boe wondered why Sikich continues to charge maintenance fees and is now proposing 50 thousand dollars more to install the software when they didn’t get the job done under the original $214,000 contract.
