Flash flood watch issued after storms

Posted by wlpo on June 12, 2010

Heavy rainfall has prompted a flash flood watch for a portion of Illinois, including Putnam and Bureau Counties.

The National Weather Service says the watch is in place through Sunday morning.  They say the area has already received a couple of inches of rain and one to three more inches could fall Saturday.

The severe storm that’s made its way through Bureau and La Salle Counties Saturday morning left several communities without power.

Numerous outages were in the Sheffield and Manlius area in western Bureau County.  There are reports of power lines and tree branches down.

Power was also out for at least a part of Mendota.
