Tornado Timeline

When the clock hit 8:30 last night, the first report by the weather service of a tornado in La Salle County was made.

At that time, a trained spotter said homes were badly damaged and trees were downed by a twister just west of Lostant.  Ten minutes later, the tornado was confirmed near Lostant by law enforcement.

At 8:45, the first reports came in about tornado damage affecting Streator, with barns and silos blown over and sheet metal wrapped around poles just a couple miles west of town.

At 8:50, the tornado was first reported knocking on the city limits of Streator.  A few minutes later, Streator Police

After smashing homes, knocking out power and telephone service the tornado then moved into Livingston County, reportedly smashing through a mobile home park in Dwight.

Clean up continues in Streator and Magnolia following tornado

People in Streator and Magnolia are getting a chance to see the full destruction caused by tornados.

A tornado hit Magnolia at about 8:10pm Saturday night, heavily damaging homes and knocking down power lines and communications towers.

It continued east towards Lostant and by about 8:45pm was damaging homes on the south side of Streator.

Police say some people on the south side were treated for minor injures.  No injuries reported for the Magnolia area.

Emergency crews from across La Salle, Putnam, and surrounding counties are helping with the response.  Many had set up base at the McNabb Fire Station where the Illinois Valley Red Cross had also set up an area for people to get food and water.

The National Weather Service has confirmed four tornado touchdowns in central Illinois, including ones in Streator and Lostant.
