Vintage Tractor Time In Oglesby

Usually filled with student’s cars, Illinois Valley Community College’s parking lot starting today will be filled with vintage tractors.

The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitor’s Bureau’s 9th annual Tractor Adventure goes from today thru Wednesday.  Registration happens today at IVCC with Oglesby acting as the adventure’s host city this year.

Activities today include a welcome party at the Elks Lodge with live music by One Night Stand.  There’s also a new farm equipment show today on the Elks grounds.

Tough Year Ends For Ottawa High

While seemingly every week for the past month there has been a high school graduation, none may have been as emotional as Ottawa High School’s.

370 seniors received their diplomas at Friday night’s ceremony in Kingman Gymnasium.  The seniors endured a year where there superintendent died and many classmates lost out on activities due to a teacher’s strike.  The makeup days of the strike also cut into Christmas and spring breaks of the students and their families.

Superintendent Matt Winchester summed it up saying “it’s been a tough school year for all”.

Injured Cat Leads To Womans Arrest

A woman from Mineral faces animal cruelty charges.

Back on Wednesday, Peru Police went to a house at 708 8th Street to check on an injured cat.  The woman who police say used to live there, Nancy Walker of Mineral was arrested for cruel treatment to an animal and violation owners duties for an animal.

Walker was released with a court date while the cat was rescued by IVAR.
