Walkers to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention

Posted by wlpo on June 4, 2010

Over 600 people will take to the streets of Princeton Saturday morning to raise awareness and money for a suicide prevention program.

The First Annual Community Walk for Suicide Prevent leaves from Darius Miller Park at 10am.  Registration begins at 9am.

Chris Compton is one of the people behind the walk.  Her son Brandon committed suicide in 2009.  After noticing suicide prevent walks in other communities, she team up with a couple of other groups to created one for Princeton.

The walk ends at Zearing Park.  It’s just over two miles long.  The walk will be followed by a program.  Money raised will pay to send two people to a suicide prevention workshop later this year.
