Subway Salmonella Investigation

Posted by wlpo on June 4, 2010

The Illinois Department of Public Health says they’re investigating Salmonella illnesses related to people eating at Subway restaurants.

Public health officials say Salmonella cases have been reported in Bureau, La Salle and 12 other counties dating back to May 14th.  The cases range in age from six to 88 years old.  There are a total of 34 cases.

Subway has voluntarily withdrawn all lettuce, green peppers, red onion and tomatoes from the suspected dates and replaced them with fresh produce.  The specific type of Salmonella is supposed to be rare where there’s only a case or two of this type per year in Illinois.
