Survey Asks About New School Name

Its survey time in Ottawa.

The Ottawa Elementary School Board is seeking the public’s opinion on if their new elementary school should have a new name.  The short survey is posted on the district’s website and needs to be turned back into the district office or to one of the district schools on or before March 8th.

Prison For Ottawa Cocaine Dealer

57 year old Richard Alvarado was given eight years in prison Friday by Judge Cynthia Raccuglia.

He was arrested last August for delivering ten ounces of cocaine to a TRIDENT investigator in Utica.  Investigators say they went to Alvarado’s house later and found even more cocaine.    Besides the prison time, Alvarado also has to pay 37 thousand dollars in fines and court costs.

Donald Scerini and Pamela Carroll of Ottawa were arrested and accused of being involved in dealing cocaine with Alvarado.   Carroll pled guilty last month and was given six years in prison.  Scerini is currently out on bond.

Sewer bids and lab services on La Salle Council agenda

It’s been a few weeks since they last met, but the La Salle City Council meets at 7pm Monday. 

          They could talk about the bids for the Oak Ridge Storm sewer project.  They could also approve a three-year contract for laboratory services at the water treatment plant.

          An executive session is scheduled for discussion about the non-union police officers.
