Ever wish you had your own fire truck as a kid?  You can have one today if you want to fork over $400,000.

A new 2009 fire engine was delivered to the Ottawa Fire Department Tuesday night.  The The Ottawa City Council agreed to pay for the truck last year.  The truck becomes the lead engine at the south side fire station.  The fire department isn’t replacing any of its existing trucks, just adding to their fleet.

Fire Chief Jim Duback says the city will pay the truck off over five years as part of a lease-purchase agreement.

Ottawa wants to book headline act for Riverfest

Posted by wlpo on February 17, 2010

After a year of just regional musical acts, Ottawa Riverfest organizers are open to bringing in at least one headline act this year.

The Riverfest budget of $207,000 was placed on file Tuesday night by the Ottawa City Council.  The budget is about $60,000 more than a year ago.  Commissioner Wayne Eichelkraut says they’re looking to bring in a headline group to play the Saturday night of Riverfest.

As in past years, events like Art in the Park and a book sale will go on the week of Riverfest in the downtown before live music, a carnival and Taste of Ottawa opens up for the weekend.
