What’s Next For New Central School?

Posted by wlpo on February 4, 2010

Superintendent Craig Doster says plans for the 25 million dollar new school are in the works and if everything goes right, they’d award bids for construction work in July and begin moving dirt in August.

Doster says he told architects to prepare drawings with the assumption that the referendum would pass.  Construction would last thru 2011 with classes opening after winter break ends in January of 2012.  The new school is being built with room for 500 students and on 46 acres of land that the district purchased last month.

On the funding side of things, Doster met with the state’s Capital Development Board last week which told the school they need some more paperwork before awarding money towards the new school.  Doster thinks the state should announce how much their giving the district in March.

Sherrell is due back in court today.  He’s bonded out of jail.
