Another Ruling On Ottawa Power Lines

Posted by wlpo on February 3, 2010

The five-member Illinois Commerce Commission has told Ameren to stick with two possible routes for power lines between Ottawa and Wedron.

On January 5th, Illinois Commerce Commission Judge John Albers ruled that Ameren can put up its high-powered transmission lines either along the Fox River or Route 71.  And Tuesday, the actual commerce commission backed the judge.

A group calling themselves “Fox River Alliance” with the backing of the Ottawa City Council are fighting for a third route going west of town and staying away from the Fox River.  Another landowners group called “Route 71 Resistors” are fighting to keep the high-transmission lines off Route 71.
