Superintendent Says Meeting Payroll Could Be Tough

Posted by wlpo on January 28, 2010

It’s a long way until June but at Hall High School they’re looking ahead to know if they’ll be in the black.

Superintendent Mike Struna explained his financial concerns to the school board last night. He’s predicting they’ll see a deficit of more than 300 thousand dollars for fiscal years 2010 and 2011.
Struna and board members are upset at the state for being behind with payments.  The district is already owed 130 thousand dollars, a figure that could increase by about 158 thousand dollars if other state payments are missed.

Struna says his biggest concern is struggling to make payroll in July if property tax money isn’t received.
