Greater deer harvests for Putnam and La Salle Counties

Posted by wlpo on January 23, 2010

Putnam County saw the biggest jump this past year in the number of deer killed during hunting season.

According to the DNR, over 1100 deer were brought down in Putnam County during the 2009-2010 hunting seasons that ended last Sunday.  Last year the total deer count was under 1000.

La Salle County hunters brought down just under three thousand deer this past season, compared to 2800 last season.

Bureau County’s deer harvest was over 2700 this season, nearly the same as the year before.
