Woman Sentenced For Illegal Gambling

Posted by wlpo on December 19, 2009

A sports memorabilia store in Streator apparently let you not only buy your favorite team’s gear but also bet on their game.

47 year old Julie Simmons of Streator pled guilty this week to misdemeanor gambling.  As part of her plea deal, Simmons will serve 18 months of conditional discharge and pay nearly 25 thousand dollars in restitution.

Simmons was arrested February 2nd after investigators say they got illegal payouts for credits won on video slot and poker machines and also were able to bet on sports at the memorabilia store called Julie’s Victory Lane.  State officials took eleven video poker and slot machines from the memorabilia store along with 24 thousand dollars in reported gambling money.
