Shotgun deer season resumes Thursday

The second part of shotgun deer season in Illinois gets going Thursday.
During the first weekend of the shotgun deer season, 756 deer were brought down in La Salle County. That was 200 less than the first shotgun season in 2008. Bureau County hunters killed 820 deer during this year’s opening season, also down around 200 from the year before. In Putnam County, 365 deer were brought down compared to 361 last year.
Statewide, over 66,000 deer were killed during the opening season, down from 71,000 a year ago.
