A county budget that has a $10 million deficit will go into place December 1. The La Salle County Board approved the budget Friday afternoon with little discussion.
The county expects to bring in about $69 million and while paying out about $78 million. Jerry Hicks is the county board chairman. He expects the county’s share of retail sales tax and a public safety sales tax to be down a million dollars from the year before.
To help cover the budget deficit, the board is dipping into its cash reserve for about six million dollars.
A truth in taxation hearing is schedule for November 30.
