La Salle County Health Department plans swine flu clinic

Posted by wlpo on October 28, 2009

After receiving more swine flu vaccine, the La Salle County Health Department has scheduled a clinic.

The clinic is Monday, November 2nd from 3pm- 7pm  at the public health building on Etna Road in Ottawa.  The vaccine will only be given to people who are considered in high-risk priority groups.  People at high-risk include: pregnant women; anyone between 6 months up to 24 years old; people younger than 64 years old with chronic medical conditions; health care workers and anyone caring for babies younger than 6 months.

The health department is offering a shot or nasal spray vaccine.  The vaccine is free.

Health department officials say once they receive more vaccine, people not considered high-risk can get a shot or the spray.  But so far they only have 2,000 of the 61,000 doses they’ve asked for.
