Two taken to hospital after driving through building

Posted by wlpo on October 5, 2009

Two 98 year olds were taken to the hospital after they drove through the FedEx building in Peru.

Police say it happened at about 10:43am Monday.  Police say a pickup truck driving by Orpha Holman of Spring Valley was heading north on Progress Boulavard when for unknown reasons he hit two parked cars and drove completely through the FedEx building, crashing through two walls.  The truck ended up in an embankment.

Holman and Gladys Holman were taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital for what seemed like minor injuries.

No one in the building hurt, but police say some items were damaged.

Holman was ticketed for not slowing down to avoid accident.
