Ottawa Man Allegedly Abuses Several Kids

A man wanted for allegedly abusing multiple children was arrested Friday night in Ottawa.

A group of families came to Ottawa Police late last week claiming their children were victims of sexual abuse by Brian Crocco. After interviewing several kids, Crocco was interviewed and eventually arrested on a warrant for predatory criminal sexual assault.

He’s being held in the La Salle County Jail on 100 thousand dollars bond.

Two Men Found Dead In Ottawa Are Named

The La Salle County Coroner’s Office says a man found in a room at the Comfort Inn on Wednesday was 49 year old Terrence Thompson of Princeton. There’s no foul play suspected.

The following day, the body of 35 year old Leonard McDonald was found south of Ottawa along East 1529th Road. McDonald was from Wisconsin and had no relatives in La Salle County. He was found in a cornfield near his car. Again, the coroner’s office doesn’t think foul play is a factor.

Body Part In Streator Park

A park on Streator’s northeast side was shutdown for awhile Saturday morning after a body part was found.

The initial call to police involved a mushroom hunter saying he found a human body part in Marilla Park. Streator Police then closed the park while police investigated.

The body part ended up being from an animal, and not a human.

Police handle rollover accident on ramp from I39 to I80

An accident at the I-39 and I-80 interchange shouldn’t be a problem any longer. Police say they’ve cleared the area where an SUV rollovered shortly after seven.
It was affecting traffic taking I-39 southbound to eastbound 80. It’s unclear if anyone’s been hurt.

More troops returning from Afghanistan

More local soldiers are coming home from the Middle East.
Homecoming ceremonies are happening Monday at armories in Dixon and Pontiac for troops who were deployed with the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Both homecomings start at 4:30pm. The troops served a year in Afghanistan.

Hall celebrates homecoming week

Students and staff are turning back the clock at Hall High School.
As part of homecoming week, Moday is “Decade Flashback Day”. Students are wearing clothes dating back to the 1950s while faculty get to choose what decade they’d like to wear. Hall’s homecoming parade is Thursday at 5pm. The game is Friday night against Princeton while the dance is Saturday night in the gym.

Community Development grant on the agenda for Spring Valley

Bids for street work and Wolfer Park drainage problems are a couple of the things aldermen in Spring Valley will talk about at Monday’s city council meeting.
There will be a public hearing at 6:45pm so they can apply for a community revitalization and economic development grant. The regular meeting starts at 7pm.
